||Dale Cup - 28th August:
The Dale Cup is to be held at Florence for Division 2 and 3 teams on Wednesday 28th August, commencing at 6:30pm.
Players who wish to participate should turn up with their partner on the night. Neil McPherson has
kindly volunteered to run the event for the third successive year.
||Florence A Clinch Division 1 Title:
Florence A beat nearest challengers Stone A 2½-1½ to claim the Division 1 title for the first
time in over 20 years. With just 1 match remaining, they are unbeaten with 14 wins from 15 matches, having dropped
just 6 points during an excellent championship winning season.
||Leek A Secure Division 2 Title:
A 2½-1½ victory over Basford C, ensured that Leek A are confirmed as champions of Division 2 and
a swift return back to the top division. With just 1 match remaining, they have claimed 13 wins from their 15 matches,
accumulating 49 points, in an extremely competitive division.
||Relegation Battles Drawing to a Close:
With 2 weeks of the season remaining, Florence C, Alsager A and Stone B are battling to avoid relegation
to Division 2. Florence D appear favourites to go down in Division 2 with Alsager B and Endon B also in
contention for relegation.
||Nip and Tuck at the Top of Division 1:
Florence A hold a slender 1½ point lead over Stone A at the top of Division 1, with the title
seemingly set to be decided when the two teams meet on 14th August.
||Leek A All Set for Division 2 Title:
Leek A are all set to claim the Division 2 title after a resounding 4-0 victory against Florence B, who
now find themselves behind Leek B in the race for second place. Alsager C have moved 3 points clear at the top
of a congested Division 3.
||Gaps Begin to Appear:
Gaps have started to appear at the top of Divisions 1 and 2, with Florence A holding a 2½ point lead over
Stone A, and Leek A 5½ points clear of Florence B, with those 2 sides meeting this week. Just 8 points separates
top from bottom in Division 3, with 5 teams still in contention for promotion.
||Tense Relegation Battles:
The relegation battles in both Division 1 and 2 look set to go to the wire with 3 teams in each division
fighting to avoid the bottom 2 places.
||Exciting Battle in Division 3:
Division 3 is heading for an exciting end to the season as just 3½ points separate the leading 4 teams.
Elsewhere, Florence A and Stone A continue to battle for the Division 1 title, with Leek A and Florence B
doing likewise in Division 2.
||Second Half of The Season Gets Underway:
There's still plenty to play for in all 3 divisions as the second half of the season gets underway.
||Half Way Stage Reached:
With the season having reached half way, the Division 1 title looks set to be between Florence A and Stone, with
Stone B, Florence C and Alsager A battling to avoid the drop. Three teams, Florence B, Leek A and Leek B are all in
contention for promotion to Division 1, with Alsager B, Endon B and Florence D battling to avoid relegation to Division 3.
Draycott C and Alsager C head Divsion 3, with Draycott C remaining unbeaten following a 3-1 win against their title challengers.
||Three Way Battle in Division 1:
Florence A, Stone A and Draycott A are well clear in Division 1, with the championship all set to go
to one of these three teams.
||1½ Points Between Top 3 in Division 2:
Leek B lead Division 2, but just 1½ points separate the top three teams. Alsager C and Draycott C remain unbeaten
at the top of Division 3.
||Florence A Continue to Go Well:
Florence A maintained their strong start to the season with another 4-0 victory, meaning they have dropped
just ½ point from their first 6 games.
||Alsager C Open Up Lead in Division 3:
Alsager C have opened up a lead at the top of Division 3, whilst Florence B, Leek A and Leek B have done likewise in Division 2.
Just 2 points separates the bottom 4 teams in Division 1.
||Maximum Points for Stone A:
Stone A made in 4 wins out of 4, and a maximum 16 points, as they head Division 1 after the latest round of matches.
||Champions Basford A Hammered by Florence A:
Florence A thrashed reigning champions Basford A 4-0 in Division 1 to move to the top of the
table, whilst Florence B had a similar success over leaders Leek A in Division 2.
||Winners and Losers Only in Division 1:
Division 1 is split into 2 parts, with 5 teams having won all their matches so far and 4 teams having lost all their matches.
Division 3 is a bit closer, just 3 points separate the top and bottom sides.
||Leek C Off to a Flyer:
Leek C have made a good start in Division 3, in what also looks likely to be a competitive league.
||Leek A Start Well:
Leek A have made an encouraging start in Division 2, winning both of their opening fixtures, although
early indications suggest this could be a tight league. Basford A, Florence A and Draycott A have also started
well in Division 1.
||Opening Day Results Coming In:
The opening day of the new season saw big wins for Florence A, Draycott A, Basford A and Endon A in Division 1,
with Florence B and Stone C enjoying comfortable wins in Division 2. Leek C opened up with maximum points in Division 3.
