Florence Win Dale Cup:
Michael Vaughan and Ross Williams from Florence defeated Jon Ward and Clive Young from Alsager, in a
high quality match to take the Dale Cup. 13 pairs from 4 different clubs took part in the event, staged
at Florence on Wednesday 12th September.

Florence B and Leek A Relegated to Division 2:
Whilst Leek A's demise to Division 2 was confirmed a few weeks back, Florence B had slim hopes of avoiding
the drop, although their 2-2 draw with Endon A finally sealed their fate.

Alsager B claimed the Division 3 title, finishing comfortably clear at the top of the table with Florence
D edging out Alsager C for second spot.

This years Dale Cup (for teams in Division 2 and 3) will take place at 6:30 on Wednesday 12th September
at Florence Tennis Club.

Alsager A secured their place in the top flight, comfortably finishing in 2nd place in Division 2.

Basford A Romp to Championship:
Basford A retained their League 1 title in devasting style, as they secured the championship having dropped just
5 points all season.

Florence C Cruise to Title:
Having dominated Division 2 from the start, Florence C have secured the title and a return to the top flight.
Alsager B look on course for the Division 3 title with Florence D and Alsager C battling for the second promotion
spot, which may be decided when the two teams meet on the last day of the season.

With just a few more weeks of the season remaining, there are plenty of things still to be resolved at the
top and bottom of the leagues.

Relegation and Promotion Battles Going to the Wire:
With Leek A almost certainly relegated to Division 2, Basford B and Florence B are in a straight fight to avoid the drop,
and still have to play each other in a match that may decide their fate. Alsager A have a slight advantage over Basford C, Leek B
and Draycott B at the top of Division 2, in the fight for the second promotion spot, behind leaders Florence C.

Basford A and Alsager B on Course for Titles:
Basford A extended their lead at the top of Division 1 to 8 points as they are almost certain to retain
the title. Alsager B remain on course to take the Division 3 title, with Alsager C, Florence D and Draycott C
all in contention for a promotion place.

Florence C look set to wrap up the Division 2 title in the next few weeks as they sit 18 points clear
at the top of the table.

Promotion Battle in Divisions 2 and 3:
Whilst Florence C and Alsager B look set to take the titles in Divisions 2 and 3 respectively, not quite so clear is
which other teams will also be promoted. Alsager A, Basford C and Draycott B are battling it out for a promotion slot in
Division 2, with Alsager C, Florence D and Draycott C all challenging for promotion in Division 3.

With the season having reached the halfway stage, it's not looking good for Leek A who find themselves 6½ points
from safety at the foot of Division 1. Stone B, Stone C and Leek C are in a three way battle to avoid
relegation to Division 3.

The top team in each of the 3 divisions have open up leads on their nearest rivals. Basford A lead division 1 by 3 points,
Florence C have a 10½ points lead in division 2 and Alsager B are 4½ points clear in division 3.

Alsager teams head Division 3, but Florence D and Basford D are also in contention. Basford A and Florence A
have opened up a gap at the top of Division 1, whilst at the foot of the table Leek A and Florence B are already in
danger of being cast adrift.

Florence C continued their good start to the campaign with a thumping 4-0 victory against one of their title rivals
Draycott B at the top of Division 2.

Reigning champions Basford A have a narrow lead at the top of Division 1 following a 3-1 win over title challengers Draycott A,
and play nearest rivals Florence A and Endon A in the next couple of weeks. Florence C continue to go well in Division 2, whilst Alsager
have a 100% record in Division 3 - their 2 teams have collected 28 points from the first 7 games.

Into the 4th week of the season and the leagues are starting to take shape. The usual suspects are already setting
the pace in Division 1, whilst Division 3 also looks as though it will be two leagues within a league.

Alsager C have 12 points from their opening 3 games as they head the way in Division 3, with good starts also for
Basford D, Florence D and Draycott C. Division 2 looks as though it could be a tight affair, with
Florence C and Basford C leading the way in the early stages of the season.

Important - Fixture Changes on Website:
I have made a school boy error with the fixtures that appear on the website, which largely impacts Division 2. Men 1 is
not impacted, Men 3 has just a couple of changes. These have now been corrected, but if you've previously printed the fixtures from
the website you will need to reprint. The fixtures in the word document have not changed. Apologies for any inconvenience
this may have caused.

Westlands Withdrawn from League:
Unfortunately Westlands have had to withdraw from the league, due to poor court conditions and
restrictions and prices imposed on them by the council.
